GFPT Krungthai Food

Upgraded animal feed factories

From manual to automated

Krungthai Food is a subsidiary of GFPT, a Thailand-based company specializing in chicken products – from hatcheries to meat processing and by-products. Krungthai Food itself produces animal feed for several types of livestock, fish and pets. Both their brand-new and existing factory needed an automation solution, as many processes still happened manually and no standards were in place.

INDEFF’s experience in the food and feed industry and its local presence in Bangkok convinced Krungthai Food to choose its AVEVA solution.

A multitude of processes

Producing all these types of animal feed involves processing a wide variety of raw materials, all the while avoiding contamination and strictly following the recipe. 20% of Krungthai Food’s products are destined for the domestic market, including GFPT’s factories, while the rest is exported to Europe. To guarantee a flawless production and consistent product quality, Krungthai Food needed a complete automation solution.

A partner that speaks your language. Literally.

While implementing the solution, INDEFF faced a particular challenge: the fact that GFPT’s workforce speaks little to no English. Luckily, the Thai-speaking engineers working at INDEFF’s Bangkok office helped bridge that language gap. This local presence, in addition to INDEFF’s substantial track record in this industry and MES implementations, proved crucial in making this project a success.

Complete automation solution

INDEFF set to work on the new factory. The automation system was then migrated to the existing factory. Now, both factories also communicate with one another for even smoother production flows.

INDEFF supplied the PLC hardware and programmed the PLC, SCADA and MES software by AVEVA, but also provided the necessary integrations with the ERP and other systems already running. INDEFF’s system allows for complete control and traceability, from the origin of raw materials to the recipe used and export to end customers.
